Chanting and Pranayama

Do you want to bring stillness to your mind, dissolve your worries and have your heart sing? Come join us for a 60-minutes workshop on Chanting and Pranayama, where we will be practicing this ancient tradition of combining singing and music with mantras, as well as discovering the power of the breathe.

Chanting is as much part of Yoga as it is the physical postures and breathing. In the yoga tradition, sacred mantras and the OM sound, which is the oldest mantra known in India, are incorporated into chanting, creating an inner vibration that sets our inner world free. The author of the yoga Sutras, Patanjali, wrote that if we wanted to understand the mystery of the divine, we must enter into a dialogue with it through reciting and contemplating the OM, considered the all-connecting sound of the Universe.

In this session we also begin to understand more deeply the power of breath and the techniques to channel this power. We will cover the four stages of breath, the attributes of each stage, and the cultivation of particular energetic qualities through specific beginner as well as advanced pranayama techniques.
